the primary Christian intellectual challenge for the next 50 years is…

‘…to win the argument that there is such a thing as purpose — to things and to human beings in particular.’

That’s what Andrew Katay told to our NTE mission team yesterday. (In fact, as he freely admitted, he was relaying something Leslie Newbigin had suggested quite some time ago.)

What do you reckon?

  1. What if the primary Christian challenge for the next 50 years is not intellectual? What if it is plain old obedience to the Scriptures? That wins the argument every time.

    1. Hmmmm. I was wondering about something similar — namely, what if the challenge is not to ‘win the argument’ but, without giving up on the wider culture or opting out of it, to embody a compelling alternative to those cultural practices that threaten to erode this sense of purpose?
